Pediatric Physical Therapist

Meet Sheila, a highly qualified, dedicated, and passionate pediatric physical therapist whose primary focus is on improving the lives of children and their families. With an extensive background in pediatric experiences across the United States, Sheila brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her practice. Her commitment to professional development is evidenced by her Certificate in Advanced Practice in Pediatric Rehabilitation from Drexel University in 2013 and her recent board certification as a pediatric clinical specialist in 2021.

Sheila's ultimate goal is to promote motor skills, strength, balance, and coordination in children, allowing them to safely and effectively play with family and friends. She has a particular interest in early intervention, aquatic therapy, treadmill training for children with Down syndrome, body-weight-supported treadmill training for children with cerebral palsy, and serial casting.

Beyond her work with patients, Sheila is a dedicated member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the Pediatrics Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. She volunteers her time to educate others within the APTA Pediatrics community and co-created and hosts a weekly podcast (@PushingPediatrics) for pediatric physical therapists looking to become board-certified pediatric clinical specialists.

Favorite Part of Being a Pediatric Therapist

I appreciate the opportunity to be a vital part of a child's journey towards improved physical abilities and overall quality of life. Equally important to me is the opportunity to positively impact the child's family, by providing them with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to aid in their child's progress. Serving as a valuable resource for the family and empowering them to help their child reach their full potential is truly rewarding.
