Makiko is a licensed speech-language pathologist, bilingual in English and Japanese. After working with different populations in different settings, such as schools, hospitals, home health, private clinics and early intervention programs for many years, Makiko has finally found her clinical passions: working with infants and toddlers with deafness or hard-of-hearing. Since 2022, Makiko has been working toward the national certification in auditory verbal therapy (LSLS cert. AVT) through A.G. Bell Academy, while continuing her daily clinical work with babies and young children in Hawai'i.

My home town is Yokohama, Japan, where my parents and older sister (and her family) are still living. I lived in Cleveland, OH, Long Island, NY, Corpus Christy and Arlington, TX, and now in Honolulu, HI!!
