Aloha Miss Carol,
Just wanted to share some big news with you: my son learned to ride a bike without training wheels yesterday! It was amazing; out of the blue he just said, "I want to ride my bike. I'm going to ride it without training wheels." And we took off the training wheels and off he went on his first try! Was a proud moment, and wanted to let you know how much we appreciate your work with him. I'm certain it's making a difference for him.

Words can hardly express how our family feels toward Crystal and Sprouts Therapy. A family must be open to the experience of letting Sprouts Therapy (Crystal) work with their child to really understand first-hand how much she knows and cares. As an owner/therapist, we believe this is not a job for Crystal and her staff, but a passion and her true calling as it almost seems natural from the first encounter she has with a child. Sprouts Therapy has a more personal touch with the family other than large therapy groups, which makes customizing a therapy program easy and more effective when one or more therapists see the child. Schedule flexibility is another great benefit that Sprouts therapy has as families that have children with disabilities often juggle many kinds of therapy into their daily schedule.(i.e. speech therapy) But most of all, they're adaptive and cutting-edge as well, whether it is using an iPad, to a stand-up paddle board, to a basic marker with a piece of paper, Sprouts Therapy finds a way to make it work for the child to learn and be in a happy environment as well. Since my son has been attending Sprouts Therapy, he has shown increased acceptance to certain sensitivities in objects and motions, an increase in proactive play, the ability to engage more independently, increased happiness, and an increase in retentiveness to routine and schedule at school and home.

After previously having Crystal work with our son in his school, we were excited to find out she had continued to offer services outside of the school setting and immediately began as a first client with Sprouts Therapy. Crystal's energy, upbeat attitude, loving personality and intuition of what each child needs are her best assets and are the backbone of why Sprouts Therapy is so effective for almost every child. Although we were used to certain therapies that seem to similarly come up with other Autism agencies we have previously used, Crystal's general OT background with all types of pediatric disabilities quickly made us realize that our son was receptive to all kinds of therapy approaches. This made us feel like we were "making ground" with our son's Autism and also gave us the confidence in our son and ourselves to implement new activities for our son to try.

We noticed changes in our son immediately after starting at Sprouts Therapy. We found that there is no substitute for in gym therapy and very talented OTs. Our son works on difficulties with SPD and the consistent work with the OTs has completely changed our school and home life. Everything is more manageable and behaviors started dissipating after just a couple weeks. The OTs are very supportive and always willing to brainstorm new ideas that might help our son. They are obviously very dedicated to helping the kids and their families.

Our son was diagnosed with a learning and speech delay in 2011. He was also behind in the development of his fine motor skills. We inquired with our speech therapist about a program that could help him with these issues, and Sprouts Therapy was recommended. After meeting with Crystal for an assessment of his needs, we received a very detailed evaluation, and treatment options. We were both very impressed with her knowledge and most of all how she interacted with our son. The results have been nothing short of amazing. We have seen our son's confidence grow with his ability. Thru the hard work of both Crystal and the Sprouts Therapy team, he has mastered his alphabet (both upper and lower case), his numbers thru 30, his ability to hold properly a pencil and fork and most of all we have seen a new confidence in his approach to learning. It was very unsettling for us to learn of our sons challenges. We knew little to nothing on how to help him, and where to start. We have to say that there is no way we could have designed a more positive, nurturing and educational environment for him. Both Crystal and Michelle have truly been one of the best things that could have happened to our son and us. We would strongly recommend anyone who has a child with similar needs to explore what Sprouts has to offer.

We live overseas and when we were planning on coming to Hawaii for an extended vacation, I looked into private OTs to work with my son during our trip. I was extremely fortunate enough to discover Sprouts Therapy. Crystal and Michelle are fantastic! They are very professional and knowledgeable and what is perhaps, most important, is that they are able to motivate my son and give him the confidence and encouragement to really challenge himself both physically and mentally. Crystal (and staff) are energetic, enthusiastic and creative in their methods and my son always looked forward to his sessions (which means a lot!). What I especially liked about Sprouts was how they incorporated the beautiful Hawaiian settings (such as the beaches) into their sessions. Whether you need OT for your child on a short or long term basis, I highly recommend Sprouts Therapy – the therapists are fun, creative and effective!

As a parent of a 9 year old child living with Autism, I am always searching for service providers and programs that can help my son. It has been a difficult task to find providers that understand Autism and that can figure out how to reach these kids. That is why I’ve been so happy since he’s been working with Sprouts Therapy, which provides pediatric occupational therapy. My son has made so much progress in the 6 months that we have been working with “Miss Crystal” and “Miss Michelle”. After identifying his needs and developing his goals, they were able to make tremendous progress on many of them, all while keeping it fun for him. He absolutely loves going to OT!

I just wanted to take a minute to thank you (Sprouts Therapy) for your hard work and dedication to helping children in need. I most admire the positive energy and encouragement with which you do your jobs. I can see my son soak it up. He is always in a better mood after having gone to OT. When I think of the work you do, I am reminded of a quote by Helen Keller, "Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it." So thank you for making the world a better place!

My daughter has received play occupational therapy from Crystal Amelang/staff for three years. In that time, she has gained so many skills in area of gross motor, fine motor, visual perception, speech language and auditory processing. We’ve seen her handwriting improve to the point even the school commented on it. She jumps, throws, runs, balances, climbs so much better now than when we started. The Sprouts staff treats their clients like gold. This therapy hasn’t been cheap, but it has been worthwhile and my daughter really looks forward to her sessions. Crystal’s commitment and dedication to the children and families, is unsurpassable.
--Father of a 9 year old girl on the autism spectrum

Last year, our 6 year old daughter was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder. She was doing poorly in school, particularly with her handwriting. She was clumsy, impulsive and seemed to lack basic social skills like looking people in the eye when speaking to them and responding to them in a timely manner. Frankly, she was difficult to manage. She has been attending Sprouts Therapy 2 to 3 times a week for over a year now. She loves the play exercises and the wonderful play equipment. She loves the attention she gets from her therapists. The therapists are very professional and caring, and she has developed great relationships with them. Since attending Sprouts Therapy, she has really thrived. She is much less socially difficult. Many of our friends and family have commented on the fact that they’ve seen a change in her. She seems much more confident and calm. Her handwriting has greatly improved. While she still has a ways to go, I’m sure that she will continue to make great strides towards becoming the confident, happy child she was meant to be.
